I Know What You Did Last Math Class

I just finished reading the article I Know What You Did Last Math Class, I had mixed thoughts. This article is about parents being able to track their kids' grades for homework, quizzes and tests, as well as some other grades. Some parents use computer programs such as Edline, ParentConnect, Pinnacle Internet Viewer and PowerSchool, to check their kids school performance. On one hand, the tracking of their kids will cause the kids to be more succesful in school, but on the other hand, it may be too much of a privacy invasion for kids who are just trying to learn to be on their own. Depending on who the person is, this can be either detrimental, or very helpful.

Yahoo is planning in the future to make his website more social, and create some sort of social networking to compete with websites like Myspace and Facebook. It is also planning to revitalize their advertising business to be able to compete with Google . In an article in the new york times entitled Trying to Fine-Tune Yahoo, they talk about Yahoo's plan to stay succesful with its competetors.

I don't think that Yahoo is going to be able to gain much in their plan. I just don't think that yahoo will be able to match up against all the very successful websites. Companies like Google and Facebook are much more used than Yahoo, and im not sure that Yahoo can take the users of the other websites and get them to use theirs.

Another reason that i dont believe that Yahoo's plan will work is that not alot of people have faith in the co-founder who is now heading the company, Jerry Yang. A quote from the article i mentioned earlier:"Analysts have been waiting for changes at Yahoo, and they have questioned whether Mr. Yang can lead Yahoo’s transformation quickly enough before competitors gain more ground and before investors become restless." If their is any doubt about the head of a company, it usually spells disaster.

The story from frustration to learning is a reflection that relates back to the year. All the things that went right and things that did not, what to continue and what to progress on. It's an article to reflect these times and knowing that they are about and knowing how to use those moments to reduce the amount of mistakes we make.

Fake Kidnapping

At first i thought that this boy needed help and wanted to send it to everyone. Then, I thought that maybe I should check the internet to make sure that it was correct because it didn't seem right to me. After I googled "Evan Trembley" I realized that lots of people had responded and said that it was a prank. I just thought to myself that it was a harmless prank, kinda funny. Lots of people were very offended by it though. A few people got angry at him and called him names.

Globalization is people all over the world being connected via the computer. Lots of people use the computer to get connected using programs like skype, aim, ichat and other services. It's kind of like the US open. Lots of people from all over the world get together, not to play tennis, to interact.
